Caso Margarita Guerra
Margarita Guerra was born on April 15, 2008, at 7 months pregnant, her mother, Zenaida Cruzado, already knew that her little girl had a congenital malformation in her neck and face.
Margarita was born at the Guillermo Almenara Hospital in the city of Lima, Peru. At 3 months old she had her first surgery to remove part of her facial malformation by placing a tracheostomy tube so she can breathe better and be able to have tube feedings. From this Margarita stays to live in the hospital until she is 18 months old, during this time, the doctors undergo surgery on the little girl to remove a part of the malformation that was invading her tongue which did not allow her to speak, at two years Margarita underwent another emergency surgery for inflammation and infection in her face.
For many years, the case of Margarita has been debated by doctors at the Rebagliati Hospital in Lima, to assess whether she should be treated in another country, but a concrete agreement was never reached, and this poor girl wasted a lot of time in order to improve her quality of life. ..
The surgeries will be in charge of Dr. Milton Warner, director of the Pediatric Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, who will provide all the necessary care during the multiple surgeries required by the state of La Niña, free of charge.
